Well, another Mother's Day has come and gone. I gear up all week and work extra hard so that I don't have feelings of guilt as I "take a break" for the day and watch as my sweet husband struggles with three (sometimes not-so-cute) boys. As I am sitting here blogging, Jake is in the kitchen doing dinner for just the two of us, now that the kiddos are in bed...not asleep, but in bed, and I find it hard to not step in and just make it myself. As I mentioned in last year's Mother's Day post, I actually look forward to all the homemade cards and gifts that I receive each year and love how each year, they become more thoughtful. Tanner made me a "Queen Mom Crown" and told me "I don't really know how other mothers are when they are with their kids, but I think you are probably the best mom in the world." I hope he still thinks that when he's 16!
I have been very blessed to be surrounded by friends who are great mothers and wonderful examples to me. I am grateful for my role as a mother and although I sometimes feel like I will be the reason for my children needing therapy as adults, I am thankful for each new day that I get to try again to be a good mother. I may be the first one to admit that I've used the phrase, "I brought you into this world, and I can take you out!", but having imperfect children is what allows me to grow and try to
develop those divine qualities that we've been commanded to possess as mothers. Seeing the world through my children's eyes has taught me to slow down, have patience and forgive others quickly. My only hope is that I will be able to teach them as much as they have taught me.
Happy Mother's Day to my own wonderful mother and to my great mother-in-law. I hope your day was special. I love you.

I'm stealing my post from last year and using it as my thought for the day: :)It's Mother's Day again! A day when I get to be the Queen and I take full advantage of it. I
make sure I get the full 24 hours and some years I have declared it "Mother's Weekend"--to which no one seems to argue. It's a day when I get three fantastic meals, cooked usually by my husband and this year, my two oldest boys. It's a day when I sleep in like I did before I had cold, tiny hands tugging on my arm to wake me up. It's a day when I love to get flowers, even if they are picked from outside my apartment window by someone so young, he still thinks I'm the smartest, prettiest, funniest person he knows. It's a day when I get so excited to open homemade gifts and cards colored with crayons, when
6 years ago I thought I'd hate that. It's a day when I feel love and admiration for my own mom as well as regret for giving her such a hard time during those awkward teenage years. It's a day when when I stop complaining about what pregnancy has done to by body and show gratitude for what it has done to my heart. It's a day when I realize being a mom has taught me more than all my prior education ever could. It's a day when I give thanks to my Heavenly Father for trusting me enough to have this scared calling as a mother for three of his most precious human beings and ask forgiveness for not doing a better job. Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms and future Moms, I hope your day is special!
