Another one grows older...

Tanner turned 7 and what a mature 7 he is. He is constantly wanting to learn more and quizzing us on the the things that he is more knowledgeable about than we are (he got a kick out of finding out that Dad didn't know how many rooms are in the White House).

We first celebrated with a day at Disney World (of course). With their new promotion, you get free admission on your birthday--but since we already have season passes, they gave T a gift card worth the value of a ticket ($63.) He was kind enough to first buy his younger brothers a toy, then spend the rest on himself!

The following week we had a luau swimming party in our backyard accompanied by a B-B-Q .

A fun time was had by all!

He loves his new bike!

An amazing invention...

T discovered a calculator tonight...

"Mom, this is an amazing thing. A machine that does math for you. I wonder if my teacher knows about these. So far, it has been correct every time! I love this thing."

That's my math geek! Love him!

More Visitors!

We were so glad to see the Lees over Memorial Day weekend. They are great friends from Dental school. They stopped into Orlando (on their way to Miami) to see us and we were so happy to see them.
This was their bus stop?...

When they asked another bus-driver (parked on the side) where the bus stop was for "Jet Set buses" he told them it was the third light post from the right! So funny...

We are glad they got to Miami safely...

Piano Recital!

Tanner had his first piano recital this weekend. He did a great job, we are lucky to have such a great teacher, Sister Tanner!

Our conversation...

Here's how my conversation went with Tanner while picking him up from school today...

TANNER: Mom, I just had the most weirdest experience.

MOM: Why, what happened?

TANNER: This boy I didn't know came up to me and said, 'Hi, Tanner.' Then I was like, 'Excuse me boy, I don't remember meeting you. How do you know me?'

MOM: What did he say?

TANNER: He said nothing and walked away. Do you know what I think is happening here?

MOM: What?

TANNER: I think I am becoming kind of popular.

MOM: Popular?

TANNER: Yeah, you know, like that song you play in the car, 'I'll make you popular, I'll teach you what clothes to wear, how to fix your hair, everything to be popular.'

MOM: (trying not to laugh) I'm happy for you. It's important to be nice to everyone, even people you don't know.

TANNER: Well, I am almost 7. I guess it was just that time.

Day of Prayer??

I am actually in Madison, Wisconsin right now and saw this article in a local paper on today's National Day of Prayer...

"Obama's position has disappointed Christian conservatives, who want the president to do more to mark the day, and an atheist group that wants him to end the tradition.

"Congress established the day in 1952 and in 1988 set the first Thursday in May as the day for presidents to issue proclamations asking Americans to pray.

"White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Tuesday that Obama would issue such a proclamation Thursday but not hold any public events with religious leaders as President George W. Bush did.

"Gibbs said Obama prays privately and his plan for the day was in line with those of past presidents. Still, Obama drew a rebuke from the National Day of Prayer Task Force, a private group that promotes prayer events around the country.

"We are disappointed in the lack of participation by the Obama Administration," said task force chairwoman Shirley Dobson, wife of Focus on the Family founder James Dobson. "At this time in our country's history, we would hope our President would recognize more fully the importance of prayer."

"The task force estimates 2 million Americans attended more than 40,000 events marking the day last year."
