yet another ER visit...

every time one of my boys begins to bleed from a sudden accident, my hubby thinks i either overreact or don't act enough...i can not seem to get it right.

here is friday afternoon's phone conversation:

jake: hello

me: hey, logan has a hole in his lip should i bring him in so you can stitch it up or just throw some ice on it (totally being sarcastic, knowing the first choice was the obvious one).

jake: what? a hole?

me: yeah, i can pretty much see his bottom teeth through his lip.

jake: sweet! bring him in and i'll stitch him up.

side note--am i the only one who finds it disturbing that my husband was excited to finally get to stitch up one of his sons?

well, long story short, we were there for almost 8 hours and ended up having to sedate him to get the stitches in...what an ordeal!

U2!

It was great to get a night, just the two of us. Jake had never been to a concert before, so U2 was a perfect first one for him.
Thanks so much to Kevin and Emily for watching the brothers (despite the catastrophe)!

The "spaceship"! "You paid for it, we built it." -Bono

this video is a little choppy...

Poor chase fell off a playground set while we were gone. We were thankful that Jake's co-residents (Dr. Mitch & Dr. Kevin) were able to fix him up to avoid a dreadful trip to the ER!

Dad...Is That You?

We have been receiving"Details" magazine for the past 5 months...but don't know how. Anyway, Logan found this issue on the kitchen counter and asked, "That Daddy??"
Jake has walked around with his chin in the air and his chest puffed up ever since...thanks Logan!

Happy Father's Day!!

I heard a funny quote today in church, "On Mother's Day we tend to hear Sunday school lessons all about how great and brilliant mothers are. But on Father's Day, we usually hear lessons on what fathers can do to improve."
Today we had a low key day, just how Jake likes it. We got up early and made him breakfast and made him take a nap after church. Then he got to sit on the couch and watch soccer all day long! The kids and I got him a new drill for the special day.

I really did get lucky in finding someone that is such a great dad! Although I think I can do it all by myself, I know that I wouldn't be able to handle my three little rascals without him. He is tough on the outside, but a big softy on the inside when it comes to our sons. I love him most when I see him with my boys!

Also, Happy Father's Day to my own dad who pushed me to believe that I was better than I was while growing up and loved me enough to be tough on me when it mattered. I succeeded in many things because of you! I love you.

and... to my wonderful father in law who has made me feel like his own from the day I met him. I remember marrying Jake hoping that he would become as his father is. Thanks for being such a great example to him. I love you!
Top ten things you'll never hear a dad say.
10. Well, how 'bout that? I'm lost! Looks like we'll have to stop and ask for directions.
9. You know Pumpkin, now that you're thirteen, you'll be ready for unchaperoned car dates. Won't that be fun?
8. I noticed that all your friends have a certain hostile attitude. I like that.
7. Here's a credit card and the keys to my new car. GO CRAZY!!
6. What do you mean you wanna play football? Figure skating's not good enough for you, son?
5. Your Mother and I are going away for the weekend. You might want to consider throwing a party.
4. Well, I don't know what's wrong with your car. Probably one of those doo-hickey thingies--ya know--that makes it run or something. Just have it towed to a mechanic and pay whatever he asks.
3. No son of mine is going to live under this roof without an earring. Now quit your belly-aching, and let's go to the mall.
2. Whaddya wanna go and get a job for? I make plenty of money for you to spend.
1. What do I want for my birthday? Aahh -- don't worry about that. It's no big deal. (Okay, they might say it. But they don't mean it)
